Welsh-Ryan Arena, Northwestern University
Located on the campus of Northwestern University, Welsh-Ryan Arena serves as the home court for the Wildcats’
men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and wrestling programs. Following a transformative renovation, the
arena o`ers a modern game-day experience while preserving the tradition of one of the Big Ten Conference’s
historic venues. With upgraded amenities, improved accessibility, and an intimate atmosphere that brings fans
closer to the action, Welsh-Ryan Arena has become a vibrant gathering place for students, alumni, and the
Evanston community.
Design Highlights
Working alongside the project team through a collaborative design-assist process, Dant Clayton helped optimize
constructability, scheduling, and overall project value. The upper bowl features Dant Clayton’s Long Span Aluminum Riser System,
delivering a lightweight, durable seating solution that maximizes structural efficiency. Architectural cable and glass railing systems
complete the renovation by enhancing safety, preserving unobstructed sightlines, and creating a clean,
contemporary aesthetic throughout the venue.
